In the Treetop

One more card from In The Treetop to share. This cards started with that peice of fabric tied around the tree image. It's where I took my colors and "feel" for this card. The colors are a little more cohesive IRL, not sure what happened with the picture, it's a little funky. I love this fabric, I made pillows for my couch out of this fabric and this little strip was leftover....I couldn't throw away even this tiny scrap - I knew I could use it somewhere! I found so many new blogs over the Christmas holiday...I can't wait to start being crafty! I just need to organize my time better!

A Christmas present

So, this is my Christmas present for my girls. I really hope they like these skirts...not just because of the the time and blood (yep I bled while making them, but not on the skirt!) I just think it is too cute and i hope they are as excited to get them as I am to give them. I made matching hairbows for them too, but just couldn't get a good picture. Have a Merry Christmas!

In the Treetop

This is the last of my assignments for In the Treetop from Lizzie Anne. We made it through the storm without losing power for long. We now have just over 2 feet of snow on the ground..it's crazy weather for here in the Northwest. Another round of it tonight..1-6". I know for some places - this is just normal, but we rarely have a white Christmas here. My girls are super excited about it! I just hope we make it to Grandma's house tomorrow!

Christmas?

This was supposed to be a Christmas card, but well, I got side tracked and it just a fun thank you card! And after Christmas, thank you cards are needed in abundance. The colored were inspired by the ribbon. Are you staying warm? It is supposed to be below zero here in the northwest with the windchill tonight, and there is a "possibility" according to the weather guy that we will lose our power. hmmmmm, below zero temps and no heater! Doesn't that sound fun! I stayed up late last night and spend a bit of time today finishing my sewing for Christmas. I found the cutest pattern for a skirt for my girls this summer, and recently found just as cute fabric. So.... I've been sewing, but that is another post. Have a great weekend! I'm not sure when I'll post again, if the power goes out and is anything like the last time it went out during a winter storm, it will be a while. Two years ago we were without power for 7 days just before Christmas. That one caught me off gaurd, this one I'm prepared for, well....at least I'm ready for Christmas!

in the tree top

This *might* be one of my favorite cards with this set. I love the colors, and the layout (that is a favorite that I use again and again!) This set too offers many possibilites of what you can do with it!

Another Giddyup Girl

This was my set for this month for LAD, and so I have lots of samples to share! How can y ou go wrong with glitter-y boots! I even used more of my new paper! I'm glad I'm getting over my "hoarding paper" issues!

Giddyup Girl

I love this set for so many reasons... it is so versitile and that is my number 1 priority about buying a set. Can I use it for more than one occasion? The one can be used for boys, girls, little kids, grown ups, birthday, get well, good luck, Christmas, really - anything you can think of!

Happy Birthday!

It's been a long time since I posted last - I don't know where time went! This is a birthday card I made for my neice and nephew's first birthday. They just turned one and are just the cutest! We love seeing pictures of them - they live so far away! The invitation came with a bandana tied to it and I knew just the stamps to use for their card. I even cut up paper that I had just purchased - I didn't even hoard it! Hope they (ok - they are one - they don't care, really it was made for their mom!)she liked it!

Pink

Here's another card from LAD Giddyup Girl - i just love this little cowgirl. Her boots and hat are just so fun! though it is hard to tell in the photo, she has Shimmerz on her boots, hat and on the fringe of her skirt.
Did you check out the retirement sale at Lizzie Anne? All those sets are 40% off - get them before they are gone!

a good card-making session

Last night I had a good card making session...all the things I worked on just seemed to come together. I was on a roll and didn't want to stop! I got a lot crossed off my list and I hope tonight is just as productive. This card for the the sketch challenge on Lizzie Anne Designs. I'm so glad I was finally able to make a card the same week the challenge was issued! It's a great one Meredith! The colors for this card came from the ribbon - i've had it for a while and wanted to use it. It went well with some new paper I picked up at the CK Convention. The twist was to make it a thank you card and well, after the holidays, lots of thank you cards are needed around my house. We have birthdays just before and after Christmas, and, those need thank you cards too. I remember growing up we always got thank you cards in our stockings and we had to write them on Christmas Day. I think it is a great idea and I still try to do the same. I hoping to get Christmas cards done tonight and maybe work on a quilt!!!! Enjoy the rest of your turkey day weekend.

A country Christmas

As I was sitting down to play with this set (Giddyup Girl from LAD), I wanted to use it in an unconventional way. I wanted to turn it into a Christmas card, since Christmas isn't far away and usually my cards are out by Dec 1st (usually since it isn't going to happen this year), anyway back to the card at hand. Here's my version of a giddyup girl Christmas card. I used LAD Holiday Script for the sentiment, leaving out the "merry & little" and replacing it with "country". I hope that my intended recepient likes her card!

Happy Birthday!

Good Morning, I don't think I've shared this card yet. I used one of Meridith's sketch challenges...but it was awhile ago. The blue Happy Birthday is a tag that pulls out to reveal the message or a gift tag. This could easily be adapted to Christmas just by changing the colors and greeting. Have you started your shopping for the holidays yet? I think I'm about half way there.

It's a party

I really like this set...it's gender/age neutral - you can really use it for anyone's birthday and I love that about a stamp set. I can get all kinds of use out of it and really - parts could be used for non-birthday cards as well.

water

no water
lots of water!

normally I don't post personal stuff on this blog - I save that for my family blog, but I just had to share...the first picture is from a recent family photo shoot taken just a couple weeks ago. the second photo was taken this morning at the same spot. Can you see the bench? It's the piece of wood with the little brackets on it next to the tree.

Brrr baby

This wa a fun page to create - but I say that about most of my projects. I love finding time to sit down and create. I used lots of Shimmerz - the hats have pink shimmerz on them as well as the snowman and my letters. This is part of a two page layout, but I didn't photograph the other page. Lots of bling on this page which is a change of pace for me on my layouts. I used Christmas in the City from Lizzie Ann for all the stamps.

Happy Vetren's Day! My daughter has learned a lot about today at school and is proudly wearing red, white and blue today. I am very grateful to all those who have served in the military, and to have the privilege of living in this country.

Back to the christmas cards

I'm ready for Christmas. well, not really ready, but ready for the seson to begin. I love the feelings that surround the holidays! For me it starts with Thanksgiving and go right on through til january. We have two birthdays to celebrate as well. This is one of the those cards that I still think is lacking, but had to put in the done pile. Perhaps someday I'll get back to it, but it was taking up too much "staring" time. Do you just stare at something, hoping something will pop into your head? Ah ha! this is what is needed. As Miss R would quote "it needs something!"

A little Surprise

These fun cards (which are hard to give away because I like them so much) are for my mom. I am sending her a box with the Christmas cards I made her and thought these would be a fun surprise. I hope she likes them as much as I do. I had these paper scraps sitting on my desk from a different project and decided to use them up. I'm all about using up my scraps lately - my pile has gotten tooooooo big!

Christmas Cards

I've been working on Christmas cards lately. This is the first time I haven't just mass produced one card. It's kinda fun. I think in the end, when time runs out, I will pick a simple design and make the rest of the cards I need with that one design, but for now, it's fun to play with lots of stamps and designs!

Supplies: LAD Silent Night, Nestabilities Scalloped Circle, SU Moss Tafetta ribbon, LAD pretty papers, SU cardstock and ink

A little trick

I found a fun new product to use on my cards - it's called "Scribbles" dimensional paint and it is in the craft/paint isle for a great price! I looked at the dimensional paints in the scrapbooking department of my local craft store but didn't want to pay so much for such a little bit of paint. Then I wandered over to the paint isle, I was thinking about that great puffy paint that I used on EVERYTHING when I was little, and I found this stuff. It's basically the same idea, but you don't have to heat it to raise it. I used it on this card for the dots around the scallops and for the snow on the roof. You can get any color - I used Iridescent, White Mist here. Paper and image from LAD. Such a fun find!

Friday, October 24, 2008

Just a quick post, this uses Holiday Lane from LAD - isn't this snowman the cutest?! I just love him. I'm on a mission to use up my scraps that are taking up too much space. With a little bit of ribbon and ink - scraps become like new again! So fun to use them in new ways! Have a marvelous weekend. I have lots on my weekend to-do list. And even more to get done today so I can do all the fun stuff tomorrow. We are hopefully getting some family pictures taken, I hope the weather people are correct in their prediction tomorrow. We are taking them outside....

It's been a while...

sorry for the lack of posting lately - I've been super busy - with what? you may ask. well - lot of things! Here is a fun little gift box. I found the box in my stash and then started altering it. It was lots of fun. I used LAD Party Animals for the images and that fun little squiggly thing around the cupcake - - what is that called?!?!?!?! Anyone?!?!?!?! A big bow with a super big button in the middle (that could double as a bow on a headband for your favorite little baby) Hopefully things will slow down a little and I"ll have more time at the computer!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

A baby Quilt

This is my most recent crafty project. I love this little blanket, it is a good sign when you want to keep the gift for yourself right? This pictures isn't a good one, but it is the only one I got before I shipped it off to it's new owner. My to-do list just gets longer and longer as the holidays get closer. Do you like to make gifts for the holidays?

Circle Sentiments

I love the scallop circles in this set and that the images fit nicely inside the circles. Way to go Joslyn! You did a great job creating this set!

Circle sentiments

such a fun set! As I was assembling this set, I could wait to play with it. I love the sentiments, the font is great and the images are just too cute. I used a wide twill self-adhesive ribbon for the yellow across the bottom of the card and then started adding circles and flowers. So fun!

Party Animals

I love this new birthday set - it was so fun, once I started stamping and making cards, I couldn't stop. For the first card I stamped the little birdie on a scrap of yellow paper, and cut him out. Then I stamped the hat on red and cut that out. I then stamped the bird again on my white image panel and layered the paper pieces over that. I used my crop-a-dile, (which hasn't seen enough use lately, so be prepared to see lots of use in the near future) to punch the holes and set the big eyelets and tied the ribbon thru the eyelets.
Next was the cupcake image - I love this little image, and the little frame to put it in, is just yummy too! For this card, I used up scraps that were sitting on my table from another project. I also added Shimmerz to the cupcake paper and the candle. I love this product - you can go to this blog http://shimmerzpaints.blogspot.com/ to check it out. It is an amazing product. I used my water color brush to apply it to my cupcake. (I also used it on the birdie's party hat) It gives your project the perfect amount of glitter and shine. Check it out - you'll want to get some too! (I've been using it on almost every card I've made lately) back to the card at hand - I used the other (non-brush) end of the paint brush to add little dots of sprinkles to the top of my cupcake. Mmmm, I want a cupcake. Have a great day!

New Release

Aren't these new papers fabulous!?!?!?! Did you see them all in the newsletter from LAD? I only used a few of the wonder choices they have. I used the French Floral collection - redish print, the tan paisley, and the green solid, only it's not really a solid - there is so much more depth to it. check out the rest of the design team and LAD release page for more details!

Fun to be Floral

I love this color combo. This card didn't end up how it started out in my mind, but I really like the end result. I used my crystal effects over the flower to make it *pop*. And it was so fun to use tags that I've been hoarding -- I'm still learning to let go of product! I keep telling myself use it - then you can buy more! Do you have to convince yourself to use product that you love?

Big Shot?

I'm thinking about getting the Big Shot - it's a big purchase for me, so i'm really in debate. If you have one, tell me why you love it and why i'll love it too! My biggest concern is that I'll get it and won't use it enough. I love the thought of being able to do my die cutting at home, nestabilities are at the top of my list to purchase. My mom's Christmas cards could go so much quicker with it. I'd love to hear your thougths on this machine.
I love this card for so many reasons. the colors. they layout. the simpilicity. no layers. have a great autumn day!

Apple Pie in a Jar

Short and quick today. Did you see the newsletter from Lizzie Anne? This is one of the projects of the month. I made some apple pie filling last fall and canned it and gave it away as Christmas presents. It was one of my favorite things to give. I used it for neighbors, friends, teachers, etc.

cupcakes

today my daughter had a friend over for lunch. Monday will be the first day of kindergarten for them both, this morning was their "orientation" - they toured the school, etc. I made these fun cupcakes from Family Fun for their lunch. They loved them! I put their names on the ones for them and these are some of the extras. So fun!

Christmas Cards

It's time to start thinking about Christmas Cards. I have a couple orders to fill besides making my own and one of my assignments for Lizzie Anne. I loved using Holiday Script. I did have a hard time finding *christmas* paper this early - it is just starting to come out and I couldn't find any I liked (I only had one option!) So I went with christmas colors - or at least what I thought I might be able to pull off as Christmas colors. This is one of my favorite cards - it was super easy to do and this is one of my favorite quotes from this set. I could see this one being duplicated in mass! I'll share the rest of the ones I made this week. Have you started your Christmas cards yet?

It's Fall!

Today as I took my girls for a walk around the neighborhood, I noticed the effects the cooler weather has had on the trees - they are starting to turn colors and drop their leaves. While I do love the autumn season, I'm not quite ready for it. I'm hoping for a warm September - not overly hot - but 70's would be great! I know I'm not alone in this! This guy from LAD Happy Harvest is so fun to color. He is happy just to be there - at least that is what the smile on his face says to me. I love this paper, I wish I would have bought more of it or could remember where I bought it or the brand. I cut that strip off first and didn't save it. It's been my favorite paper lately and I'm using every little scrap of it. The knots are tied with moss and chocolate taffeta ribbon from SU - I love the softness they add.

Happy Harvest

It's feels like fall, it isn't supposed to feel like this yet. Yes I complained about the 90+ weather, but August is supposed to be the best weather in the northwest. Not constant rain. I'm looking for the sunbreaks today. This set from LAD is so fun to play with, I tried to give my pumpkin "stripes" like real pumpkins do, but well, you can't tell from the picture.

Garden Party Frock GIVEAWAY!!!!

Garden Party Frock GIVEAWAY!!!!

How cute is this dress? I would definately love for my little one to wear it!

more apples

I am really loving this Happy Harvest Set. Especially the basket of apples. It gets me in the mood for fall. I am also enjoying making 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 cards - just a little different in size, but I can still get what I need on the card. I'm off to start checking off my "to-do" list today. Have a good one!

Birthday Apples

I have always liked this set and wanted to get it from LAD, but do I really *need* it? After playing with it yesterday for an assignment, yes, I do *need* it. I have so many ideas floating around in my head for it and can't wait to get started. I especially love this bushel of apples.

Family

so it's been a while... we were gone an extended family vacation and got to visit with lots and lots of family. It was fun, but alas, no stamping. Hopefully between the piles of laundry and unpacking, I'll get some time in to stamp soon. Here is a page that I made before I left using Garden Isle from Lizzie Anne. I just adore this little hula girl! She is absolutely adorable.

Shapes and Stitches

Another fun set from Lizzie Anne - great for backgrounds, but also fun to use a focal point - I'll share that card later. The Happy Birthday is from Sketched Sentiments, but everything else was stamped using shapes and stitches. I tried making a masculine card, but well, it didn't end up that way. Mayeb next time.

Happy Halloween

This is one of the new singles from Lizzie Anne Designs - I love all the little eyes! So fun! I used the ghost from Spooked in the background. A really simple, but fun Halloween card. Do you send out Halloween cards?

Gizmos

this little guy is just so fun to play with. I love embossing him and I can't wait to make him a her, thanks to Cambria's pink robot! Have I told about the possibilities of this set? I have loved palying with it.

Thankful for cowboys and cowgirls

That's what my 5 year said last night in her prayers...I'm not really sure where that came from, but she was cute. More Giddy up Girl today. She is a fun one to color. Did you see the winner of the Birthday Sketch contest for Lizzie Anne? They have the winners posted on the website -amazing cards! So which set of the new releases is your favorite? I don't know if I could choose just one, especially after seeing all the samples everyone made.

Last sneak peak

So today is the last sneak peak ...don't you just love the new releases? Which is your favorite? I have several! This was a really fun set to play with, the images are just so easy to put together. On the bottom of the brown card it, it says Wise men still seek Him, there are so many great sayings in this set, it was hard to choose just one. I definitely see this set being a contender for my Christmas cards.

more sneak peaks

Gizmos and Gears is another one of my *favorite* sets. Even though I have no boys and don't generally get oo excited about robots, I jsut love this little guy. And being able to make such great background paper - oh the fun and possibilities!
At first, I thought there was no way I would color in the house...too much coloring for me, but with this set I re-discovered my love of coloring, I loved to color as a child and had fun coloring in the houses in this set.
Who could not love this little super hero? He's a favorite in my book! My daughters like to name all the people that I stamp and color - this one is their dad...appropriate I think :) Have a great one!
